Hugo Gonzalez

School Resource Officer

Officer Gonzalez is a dedicated patrol officer and school resource officer with over 19 years of service in law enforcement. A graduate of Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyoming, he began his academic journey at the University of Wyoming before earning an Associate of Arts degree from Illinois Valley Community College.


Officer Gonzalez began his career in 2005 as a part-time officer with the Earlville Police Department. After completing the Part-Time Officer Training Program, he transitioned to full-time service. In 2007, he joined the Peru Police Department, and in 2009, he accepted a position with the Oglesby Police Department, where he continues to serve today.


From 2010 to 2012, he served as part of a regional task force, working collaboratively with fellow agencies to address broader community safety goals. Between 2021 and 2022, he briefly performed in the role of sergeant, offering leadership support within the department as needed.


Officer Gonzalez is known for his calm presence, sound judgment, and approachable manner. With a strong focus on situational awareness, de-escalation, and respectful communication, he strives to serve with integrity and empathy in every interaction. As a bilingual officer, he also helps ensure that non-English-speaking residents feel seen, heard, and safe.


He remains deeply committed to fostering trust and connection within the community he proudly serves.
